The Art of Tobaccoimages1.jpg

ITC has a team of highly trained and skilled tobacco inspectors that works on identifying and choosing tobacco leaves in accordance with the company’s requirements and standard blend.  Choosing the imported tobacco comes after a month-long detailed and extensive process of researching, feeling, and tasting, namely in Asia, Africa, Europe, Far East, and South America.

The process of tasting tobacco is an art, usually lasting several hours with tea and water given at intervals to wash away the previous tobacco taste.  Furthermore, just as wine grown in different regions and vineyards produce a range of flavors, so too has every grade of tobacco a different taste and flavor, and the impact on the throat and tongue changes with each type of tobacco.
